Tina Kinstedt
Hello everyone! My name is Tina Kinstedt, and I am a 4th year osteopathic medical student at Ohio University Heritage College of Medicine. I grew up in Dayton, Ohio and currently reside in Columbus, Ohio. Before medical school, I studied Biochemistry at Miami University (Ohio and not Florida haha!) and subsequently completed Master’s degrees in Chemistry, Anatomy, and Neuroscience & Physiology at Wright State University. My family is both Oneida and Chippewa and I have loved ANAMS as it gives me the chance to interact and assist other Native people!
I have been a general member of ANAMS for a couple years now and I am so excited to now serve as a member of the executive board! I love how this organization brings Native people together and gives us more resources and assistance with getting through medical school. It has been a beautiful way to meet everyone across the country and truly help to build a community with people that I may have never had the chance to interact with in person. I will be serving as the Allied Health Professions Liaison and assisting with recruiting events for Native people in Allied Health professions (vet school, dental school, podiatry school, etc.) I am looking forward to learning how to truly make a difference in this organization! Overall, I simply want to help in any way I can!
Thank you so much for reading! I hope you have a great day ☺

Leo Almero
Bozho! My name is Leonard Almero, and I’m a proud member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation. I’m currently a second-year medical student at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine, where I’m part of the Tribal Health PRIME program.
Before med school, I participated in the Native American Research Internship (NARI) program, where I worked on cardiology research and helped mentor Native youth interested in science and medicine. Those experiences deepened my commitment to serving Native communities and supporting the next generation of Indigenous physicians.
I’m passionate about pediatric cardiology and community-based medicine, but I’m just as dedicated to helping Native students navigate the road to medical school, from MCAT prep to mentorship and everything in between. I love creating spaces where we can learn, laugh, and lift each other up (bonus points if snacks or Kahoot are involved).
When I’m not in the library or clinic, you’ll probably find me swimming, playing pickleball, hosting board game nights, or yelling at the TV during football season (all in good fun, unless my fantasy team is losing).
I’m excited to continue building community and supporting our future Indigenous healers as part of ANAMS. Feel free to reach out anytime whether it’s about medicine, mentorship, or your best Catan strategy. My contact is leonalmero@ucdavis.edu.

Alyssa Little
Yá'át'ééh! My name is Alyssa Little. I am Diné from Dilcon, Arizona. I grew up in Arizona and South Dakota and enjoy traveling in between my homes to see family. I am a second-year medical student at Rocky Vista University in Colorado. I am affiliated with the Urban and Underserved Track with an academic and clinical interest in the intersectionality of Indigenous health, health equity and advocacy, and surgery. My experience includes clinical roles in urology, mobile clinic settings, as well as research on cancer disparities in Native communities. My leadership is driven by a passion for mentorship, promoting more visibility for indigenous students, providing more opportunities for students of diverse backgrounds to surgical exposure, and increasing access to hands-on learning opportunities for medical students. My long-term goal is to pursue a surgical specialty where I can serve medically underserved populations and advance culturally responsive care both in academic and clinical settings. Outside of school, I am deeply interested in traditional Indigenous herbalism and enjoy crafting, sewing, fermenting foods, practicing yoga, traveling, and exploring new coffee shops with her dog, Pluto. Please reach out for any questions or if you are interested in networking.
